I’m Misty Relos. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor based in Missouri, with degrees in Social and Behavioral Sciences, Psychology, and Counseling.
I work with teens and adults (13+), with a heart for helping people navigate the hard, complicated, and deeply human parts of life. My approach is grounded in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), with a focus on emotional regulation, relational healing, and meaningful, sustainable change—but what we do together often becomes something deeper than technique. It’s real, connected, and entirely yours.
I’m part of the DBT Columbia (soon to be DBT Missouri!) team, where we offer full-model DBT in a supportive, nonjudgmental environment. I bring a gentle but steady presence to the therapy space—curious, collaborative, and deeply invested in seeing people as they are, not just what they’ve been through.
More than anything, I want you to feel safe, understood, and supported.
Therapy with me isn’t about fixing you, it’s about creating space for all the parts of you to exist, grow, and come home to themselves.
I know reaching out can feel overwhelming.

🌸 What Meraki Means Here

That’s true.
But here, it’s not just a word.
It’s a process.
Meraki is a way of moving through the world.
It’s the energy that flows when I sit with someone and really see them.
It’s the softness I pour into the work, the imperfections I leave visible, the soul I don’t try to hide.
It’s showing up, even when I feel like a squishy little uod worm. 🐛
It’s choosing presence over polish.
It’s allowing the process to be messy, and beautiful, and real… and sometimes chaotic.
I chose this word before I fully understood what I was doing.
I just knew it mattered.
This site may carry the name merakicat.com—a nod to both playfulness and evolution—but the heart of it is about:
