Naming the Now

a Misty Mindfulness Moment

I want to invite us into a moment of mindfulness
to notice what’s already here.

We’re not trying to change it, solve it, or judge it.
Just notice. Just name. Just hold it softly for a moment.

Start by taking a slow breath
just one.
Let it be enough.

Now, bring your awareness to your body,
and without changing anything,
just name to yourself
one physical sensation you’re noticing right now.
Maybe it’s warmth. Maybe it’s tension.
Maybe it’s the way your clothes feel.
There are no wrong or right answers.

Now, notice one thought that’s visiting your mind.
Don’t try to change it or follow it
just name it gently, like you’re saying,
“Oh hey, you’re here.” That’s all.

Next, name one feeling that’s present
not the biggest or loudest one.
Just one that’s quietly hanging out.

Now, ask yourself:
What’s one thing I want to hold gently today?
Something you don’t need to fix
or do anything about,
but you’d like to stay connected to.

And lastly…
What’s one thing I can set down
for just this moment?
It doesn’t have to be forever
just long enough to take one more breath.

You don’t have to do anything with what came up.
Just knowing it’s there is enough.
We’re not here to be perfect at noticing
we’re here to practice being with ourselves,
exactly as we are.
