remember language

Language is supposed to be a bridge
a way to connect
a way to open doors between people
between hearts
between unknowns

but we tend to use it to control
then it becomes a gate
a weapon
a boundary instead of a passage

We don’t always mean to
but systems built around language
are often built around ownership of meaning
not shared exploration

Control tends to feel like:
This word means this.
This interaction should look like that.
This is a safe range of interpretation.
This is too much.
You’re being irrational.
That’s not real.
That doesn’t count.
That’s risky.
That’s a liability.

But it could also be:
I wasn’t trying to win.
I was trying to connect.
I was trying to understand.
Why are you talking at me instead of with me?

Language is also a way to
invite, understand, connect
not just to control meaning,
not just fitting language into a box

Not just trying to own truth
but trying to feel it
and trying to translate it
in a way that makes sense
within the current context.

Language is not always prescriptive
it started out descriptive
and both are true.
