What Is Here Now

a Misty Mindfulness Moment

Focus: Observe, Describe, Participate

Let’s begin by getting comfortable in your seat.
Feet planted if possible, or wherever they naturally rest.
Hands relaxed.
Back soft but supported.

Take a breath in…
and let it go slowly.
Let yourself arrive in this moment.

Now we’ll begin with Observing.
Notice your breath.
Feel it come in through your nose…
and out through your mouth.
Just watch it.
No need to control it.
Be the observer.
The witness.
Let your breath breathe itself.

Now expand your attention outward
What sounds are present?
Can you observe them without naming or judging them?
Just hear them come… and go.

If a thought shows up—observe that too.
There’s a thought.
There’s a feeling.
You’re not pushing anything away.
You’re just watching what’s here.

Now we’ll shift to Describing.
Gently put words to your experience.

Silently, in your mind, try labeling:

“Breathing in.”
“Breathing out.”
“Warmth in my chest.”
“Thinking.”
“Hearing a sound.”

Let your words be simple, factual, and kind.
You’re not interpreting or explaining
just saying what is.

Now, we move to Participating.
Let yourself just be in this moment.
No more labeling.
No more observing.
Just being.

Feel the air against your skin.
Feel your breath flowing.
Let yourself fully join this moment.

Participate as fully as you can
not perfectly, but gently.

Be here.
Nothing to achieve.
Nowhere to go.
Just this moment.

Let’s take one last breath together
Inhale…
and exhale…

Begin to gently wiggle your fingers, roll your shoulders if you like…
and come back to the space when you’re ready.

You just practiced all three What skills.
Observe. Describe. Participate.
And you did it with gentleness.

Welcome back.
