Dreaming Awake: A Mindful Summer Night

🌙 a Misty Mindfulness Moment

You don’t have to close your eyes unless you want to.
Just take a moment.
Let yourself pause.
Enough to notice that you’re here.
Enough to let this moment catch up with you.

If your body’s tired, let it rest.
If it’s holding tension, that’s okay too.
You don’t have to fix it.
Just feel yourself where you are.

Take a breath in…
and then out.
Nothing forced. Just natural.
Like you’re breathing out the rest of your day.

Now imagine that you’re stepping outside on a warm summer night.
It’s quiet.
Soft.

The air is gentle on your skin… just the right kind of cool.
You’re somewhere safe.
Familiar, or maybe dreamlike.

There’s a little breeze, slow and lazy,
moving through the leaves.

And overhead, a stretch of sky that feels endless
stars scattered like thoughts,
but calmer somehow.

Maybe you hear crickets.
Maybe the world is still.
You don’t need to decide.
Just notice what your mind fills in.

Each breath you take now feels like it has a little more space.
Like you could breathe in the stars themselves
and breathe out a little weight you’ve been carrying.

No rushing.
Just slow, curious breathing.
Like you’re watching the moment instead of chasing it.

You feel your feet planted
maybe in grass, or warm sidewalk, or porch wood
grounded in this imaginary place.

A summer night that doesn’t ask anything from you.
It just lets you be.

And as you stand there
maybe you look up.

The moon might be full.
Or barely a sliver.
Whatever shows up is fine.

And just like the sky holds all of it
the light, the dark, the in-between
you, too, can hold what’s showing up right now.

Thoughts.
Feelings.
Uncertainty.
Hope.

You don’t need to solve or fix anything in this moment.
You’re just… here.
Breathing.
Noticing.
Existing, gently.

If your mind drifts, that’s okay.
It’s just like a firefly in this little summer night of your mind.
Let it float by,
then return to the air, the breath, the breeze.

Take one more slow inhale…
and let it go however you want.
No rules. Just a breath.

You might notice your hands again.
Or maybe the feel of the space around you.

Come back however feels real.

And when you do…
try not to leave that softness behind.
